Barry Zito Performs with Metallica
In 2007, Barry Zito signed a seven-year contract with the San Francisco Giants. The contract was controversial – very pricey, very risky – but regardless of how Zito pitched since 2007, I’m sure he didn’t know at the time he was going to get one of the best perks of working in the Bay Area.
Freakin’ Barry Zito got to hang out with and perform with FREAKIN’ METALLICA in their headquarters in San Rafael, CA! I’ve never been more jealous of a person.
As a part of SFG Productions, cameras and crew followed Zito to the Metallica Headquarters where he met with and played with Kirk, James, Robert and Lars. Metallica gave him a tour of the headquarters, signed custom “Metallica” Giants jerseys and gave insight on how wonderful it is that their music has inspired a great ballclub like the Giants.
Metallica is inspiring. I taught myself how to play guitar by frustratingly forcing myself to learn Hammet’s solos, Hetfield’s riffs and the band’s overall speed. They inspired me to live my life like a proud metalhead; I no longer worry about what others think of me, I don’t strive to gain unearned attention for meaningless, hollow values in life like money and fame, and when Metallica is on, life is goin’ full speed.
The Oakland A’s play Metallica in their stadium. They’re doing pretty well for themselves. Mariano Rivera has the nickname “The Sandman,” as he plays the Metallica tune “Enter Sandman” before every save situation. He’s kind of a pretty good player, too.
Metallica is playing live at AT&T Park on May 3, and fans who attend that game get a Metallica/Giants hat – which I want, so if you get an extra, please send it to me in the Fan Cave.
Everyone loves Metallica. Even Load, ReLoad, St. Anger, and Death Magnetic are good albums. Don’t hate.
As Metallica said themselves, “F#&* it all and f#&* it, no regrets.”
