Astros in Action Foundation Mission

Through the strength of the National Pastime, we will enhance the quality of life in our community through educational, health, and spiritual endeavors. We support the efforts of non-profit organizations or programs related to: Literacy, Education/ Scholarships, Health Issues, Faith Based Organizations, and Reviving Baseball in the Inner City.

History

The Astros in Action Foundation was formally introduced to the public on September 16, 2000, at the Jim Rome World Tour Stop #22 held at Minute Maid Park. During the event, fans were encouraged to participate in a silent auction that included local and national sports memorabilia. Fans also made donations to the Astros in Action Foundation as they entered the ballpark. In a matter of two hours, nearly $10, 000 was raised to help "field the dreams of Houston."

Whenever the call for help has gone out, the Astros in Action Foundation has responded. Over the past three years alone, the foundation has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to such worthy causes as assisting the victims of Tropical Storm Allison and the 9/11 attacks, helping the Enron Employee Transition Fund, and endowing the Houston Astros Adolescent Patient Waiting Area at M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital.
