Houston Astros honor Jeff Bagwell at Astros in Action Foundation
Fourth Annual Leadoff Luncheon


The Houston Astros held the fourth annual Astros in Action Foundation Leadoff Luncheon on April 4, 2007, benefiting the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County and the Ronald McDonald House in Houston. Players on the Astros Opening Day roster attended the event, along with Astros coaches, Chairman and CEO Drayton McLane, General Manager Tim Purpura, manager Phil Garner, and Astros radio announcers Brett Dolan and Dave Raymond. Hall of Fame broadcaster Milo Hamilton emceed the event. Astros great Jeff Bagwell was presented with an award honoring the outstanding contributions he made to the city of Houston and the Astros organization.

The Astros in Action Foundation raised over $170,000 at the annual event. Portions of the proceeds from the luncheon were given to support the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County, Inc. and the Ronald McDonald House Houston. The Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization with the mission of educating and advocating for the needs of persons who are homeless through support and coordination of services. Ronald McDonald House Houston is dedicated to helping children with illnesses or disabilities and their families lead happier, healthier lives. Full story »
