Join us on Saturday, May 26 for the Astros In Action Foundation's 10th Annual Race for the Pennant. In addition to the 5K Run/Walk and the kids Fun Run the Astros will also have the first-ever 10K in celebration of the race's 10th anniversary! Participants will receive an official race t-shirt, two tickets to a 2012 Houston Astros home game (redeemable for the June 5-7 series) and much more!
The Race for the Pennant 10K is an official 2013 Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Half Marathon qualifying event! Please note that registration for the Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Half Marathon for those with qualifying times ends on May 31, 2012.

This year's Houston Astros Race for the Pennant is presented by the The Methodist Center for Sports Medicine and endorsed by the Houston Marathon Committee. Other sponsors of the 10th annual Race for the Pennant include, Academy Sports + Outdoors, ARAMARK, Associated Credit Union of Texas, Astros.com, Buffalo Specialties Inc., Citgo, Coca-Cola, H-E-B, KTRH NewsRadio, Metal Sawing Technologies, Minute Maid, Mliepins graphics Co., My Fit Foods, Precision Graphics Center, Real Meals 365, Smoothie King, United, Whataburger, and Your Sporting Image.
Pets, roller blades, skates, strollers, bicycles, baby joggers, and any other related wheeled devices will be prohibited.
The post-race party will begin immediately following the race and feature great food, drinks and live entertainment. Special guests will include Hall of Fame Broadcaster and Voice of the Houston Astros, Milo Hamilton, Astros mascot Junction Jack and his friends along with the Coca-Cola Park Patrol. An awards presentation will also be held during the post-race party along with great door prizes. You must be present to win.
Awards will be given to the winners of the following categories in both the 5K and 10K : first place overall male and female finisher, firs place masters male and female, and top three male and three female finishers in each age category. The age categories are: 0-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64,65-69, 70+ and wheelchair.
5K - First place overall male and female will receive two (2) round trip airfare tickets within the continental United States provided by United, a $50 Academy Sports + Outdoors gift card, and an invitation to participate in a pre-game ceremony on the field with special recognition.
10K - First place overall male and female finishers will receive one (1) $1,000 gas card provided by Citgo, a $50 Academy Sports + Outdoors gift card, and an invitation to participate in a pre-game ceremony on the field with special recognition.
5K & 10K - First place masters male and female will receive four (4) dugout tickets to a 2012 Houston Astros home game, a $50 Academy Sports + Outdoor gift card and an invitation to participate in a pre-game ceremony on the field.
5K & 10K - First place male and female winners in each age category will receive a $50 gift card to Academy Sports + Outdoors and invitation to participate in a pre-game ceremony on the field.
5K & 10K - An award certificate and an invitation to participate in a pre-game ceremony on the field.
The top three male and female winners in each age category, the masters overall male and female and the overall male and female are invited to participate in a pre-game ceremony on the field at Minute Maid Park prior to the June 6th game vs. the St. Louis Cardinals. The overall male and female winners from the 5K & 10K will receive special recognition within the ceremony. More information on how to participate in the ceremony will be emailed to the winners the week of May 28th.Race scoring will be done using the D-Tag (Disposable Tag). You will not be an official finisher if you do not wear the tag on your shoe. You will pick up your tag at packet pickup.

Free parking will be available in the Astros Diamond Lot and Lot A located at Texas Avenue and Hamilton Street on the east side of Minute Maid Park. Astros Lots B and C are not available.
Additional free parking will be available at the Toyota Center Tundra Parking garage located at 1515 Jackson Street. A free shuttle will take participants to and from the race. Shuttles will run from 5:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and pick up from the garage at Jackson and Leeland streets.
Paid parking may also be available in lots surrounding the ballpark.
Starting Line: Minute Maid Park (Crawford St. @ Texas Ave.)
Finish Line: Minute Maid Park
Both courses begin at Minute Maid Park in front of Union Station on Crawford St. and proceeds along the west side of the ballpark toward the Elysian Viaduct. The 5K race turns at the end of the Elysian Viaduct and then heads back into town on La Branch St. The 10K race will turn at Malverne St. before heading back to Minute Maid Park. Both courses will turn left on Congress St. past Chenevert St. before finishing inside of beautiful Minute Maid Park. A USATF Certified Course TX09026ETM
