The Houston Astros have always had the ability to call our home ballpark a magnificent piece of architecture. After moving from the "8th Wonder of the World", the Astrodome, into our new facility in 2000, that ability has not been lost. Minute Maid Park was opened with baseball's first retractable roof and has truly become a home for Astros baseball and our fans over 10 seasons. Situated in downtown Houston, the ballpark has become the focal point of Houston's image, hosting more than just baseball throughout the year. Boasting a seating capacity of more than 40,000, it strives to connect the new Houston with the cherished traditions and roots of Houston and baseball as a whole. After the 2010 season, our beloved park underwent a multi-million dollar upgrade. Renovations included replacing our video board with a 54 feet high and 124 feet wide HD video board, the addition of smaller HD board in left field, 500 new HD TVs, the renovation of our press area and the addition of the Insperity Club - a new premium seating option on the club level behind home plate.
Award winning celebrity Chef Bryan Caswell also joined our team prior to the 2011 season. Caswell will have influence on cuisine throughout the ballpark with a special emphasis on developing menus for our premium seating areas.
While we will continue to update our park to best accommodate our fans, some nostalgic touches such as our working locomotive high above the outfield and renovated train station lobby keep the classic feel of America's past-time alive.
