Assistant General Manager
David Stearns joined the Houston Astros in November 2012. In 2011-12, he served as the director of baseball operations for the Cleveland Indians, and spent three years prior with the Major League Baseball Office of the Commissioner. In his role, David, 28, assists General Manager Jeff Luhnow in all baseball operations capacities including player evaluations, player transactions, and contract negotiations and helps oversee the Astros' professional scouting, player development, and baseball development departments.
Before joining the Indians, David spent 2008-11 working at the MLB central offices. His most recent position in the MLB Office of the Commissioner was that of manager of labor relations where he assisted in the salary arbitration process, handling uniform player contracts and was a member of MLB's negotiating team for the recently completed Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Before joining the MLB Central Office he worked in the Baseball Operations Departments of the New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates and the Arizona Fall League. He is a 2007 graduate of Harvard University.
