Another year, another set of naysayers quieted by October. It seems as though every season a new and different Braves squad must prove wrong another series of doubters who insist that this is the year Atlanta's improbable string of first-place finishes comes to a halt.

Not that this year's team didn't provide some suspense. But some deft maneuvering by general manager John Schuerholz and some catalytic contributions -- by homegrown talents such as Jeff Francoeur as well as old-guard veterans like John Smoltz -- propelled Atlanta to its unparalleled 14th straight division title.
