HOUSTON -- As expected, the procedure to repair torn cartilage in Brad Lidge's right knee was completed without complication.

Lidge underwent the surgery early Monday morning. Team medical director David Lintner performed the procedure at The Methodist Hospital in Houston. The closer will stay in Houston for a few days before heading to his hometown of Englewood, Colo., later this week.

Prior to Sunday's game, Lidge estimated he would be on crutches for six weeks, but the timetable of recovery dictates he'll be fully recovered by the beginning of Spring Training.

"I always start throwing the beginning of January, so I'll be right on schedule," he said.

Lidge, 30, was 5-3 with 19 saves and a 3.36 ERA over 66 games this year.
