ST. PETERSBURG -- Kazuo Matsui left Sunday's game against Tampa Bay with a strained right hamstring, which he suffered during his at-bat in the sixth inning while facing Rays lefty Scott Kazmir.

Matsui has been dealing with tightness in that area for a stretch of time and after the game said he'll know more about the severity of the condition on Tuesday, when the Astros open a homestand with the Texas Rangers.

"It just felt tight lately a little bit," he said. "I still have a little pain in that area. I'll see how I feel after the off-day."

Matsui grounded to shortstop during that at-bat. Mark Loretta entered the game in the bottom of the sixth to take Matsui's place at second base.

Matsui doubled in his first at-bat and singled in his second. The second baseman was hitting .217 on the road trip at the time of his injury, logging five hits in 23 at-bats.
