BRAVES 3, ASTROS 2
at Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Sunday, March 15

Astros at the plate: Carlos Lee drew a second-inning leadoff walk, advanced to third base on a Miguel Tejada single and scored on a Geoff Blum sacrifice fly. Darin Erstad followed with an RBI double that highlighted his two-hit performance. A Lou Santangelo double gave the Astros runners at second and third with two outs in the ninth. But Boone Logan ended the threat with a strikeout of Reggie Abercrombie.

Braves at the plate: Jordan Schafer continued to shine with a two-hit performance that began with a fifth-inning bunt single and concluded with a leadoff single that sparked the decisive eighth inning. Brandon Jones' two-run double tied the game in the eighth, and Brandon Hicks followed with a single to set the stage for Greg Norton, whose fielder's choice groundout brought Jones home with the decisive run.

Astros on the mound: Jose Capellan continued his stellar sping by scattering four hits and recording four strikeouts over 4 1/3 scoreless innings. Capellan, who hasn't allowed a run in 12 2/3 innings during the exhibition season, was perfect until Derek Lowe lofted a third-inning two-out single into left-center field.

Braves on the mound: Lowe, who had worked four perfect innings against the Astros last Tuesday, was charged with two earned runs and four hits in five innings. Rafael Soriano hit 94 mph with multiple fastballs during a scoreless sixth inning. Peter Moylan induced a pair of groundouts and notched a strikeout during a perfect eighth inning.

Grapefruit League records: Astros 1-14-2; Braves 12-3

Up next: Tom Glavine is scheduled to complete a two-inning simulated game at Disney on Monday morning. The 42-year-old southpaw is scheduled to make his Grapefruit League debut on Saturday, when the Braves host the Mets. Jo-Jo Reyes is also scheduled to throw five innings during an intrasquad game on Monday. Atlanta will host the Mets on Tuesday at 1:05 p.m. ET.

The Astros will enjoy their second off-day of the spring season on Monday before heading to Lakeland, Fla., for a matchup with the Tigers on Tuesday at 1:05 p.m. ET. Veteran right-hander Brian Moehler will take the mound for Houston, as will Clay Hensley, Chris Sampson, Bud Norris and Gilbert De La Vara. Hensley is strictly a bullpen candidate after he was bumped from the starting rotation mix Sunday.
