Watson has yet to view Hawkins tape
Reliever accuses umpire of pre-determining winner
CHICAGO -- Bob Watson, Major League Baseball's vice president of on-field operations, said Wednesday that he has not yet reviewed the video of the incident from Monday's game in which Astros reliever LaTroy Hawkins was ejected by home-plate umpire Mike Everitt.
Hawkins was ejected in the eighth inning of Monday's 5-1 loss to the Cubs for arguing balls and strikes and after the game criticized Everitt, saying the umpire had made his mind up who was going to win the game.
"I haven't had a chance to look at it," Watson said Wednesday. "I will get the reports and look at the film and talk to who I need to talk to and we'll do what we need to do."
Hawkins, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with shingles, said Tuesday he stood by his comments and would fight any possible fines.
