ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays traded right-hander Burke Badenhop to the Brewers in exchange for Minor League outfielder Raul Mondesi Jr. on Saturday.

Mondesi Jr., 20, spent the 2012 campaign with Rookie-level Helena of the Pioneer League and played right field and center field. In 68 games, he hit .231 with five home runs and 32 RBIs. The right-handed hitter signed with the Brewers on June 23, 2010, out of the Dominican Republic.

Mondesi's father, Raul Mondesi, hit 271 home runs over 13 Major League seasons from 1993-2005. He was the '94 National League Rookie of the Year, a '95 NL All-Star and a two-time NL Rawlings Gold Glove Award-winning outfielder.

Badenhop, 29, went 3-2 with a 3.03 ERA while making a career-high 56 appearances this past season. From May 1 through the end of the season, he posted a 2.24 ERA.

The Rays acquired Badenhop from the Marlins on Dec. 12, 2011, in exchange for Minor League catcher Jake Jefferies.

The Rays tendered the arbitration-eligible Badenhop a contract for 2012 prior to Friday night's 11:59 ET deadline. The right-hander made $1.075 million in 2012.
