Caguas had a night to remember at the plate. The team managed to belt out 23 hits and every single starter had at least one hit. Johnny Monell went 4-for-6 with a home run and four RBIs. Luis Montanez, meanwhile, went 3-for-6 with two doubles and six RBIs. Bobby Bramhall took the loss, allowing six runs on four hits in just one inning. Box score

Ponce 5, Mayaguez 1
A four-run fourth inning by Ponce proved to be the difference in the game. Led by Henry Ramos, who went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and five RBIs, Ponce cruised past Mayaguez. Gigantes 4, Aguilas 3
Gigantes got the hits when it counted, even though they had three fewer hits than Aguilas. Leury Garcia led the way, going 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two runs scored. Kevin Pucetas got his third win of the season, allowing three runs on six hits in six innings. Dustin Richardson took the loss. Box score

It was a dominant night for Escogido. Edward Valdez allowed just three hits in 6 2/3 innings for his second win of the season. His ERA also dropped to 1.48. Fernando Martinez and Erik Gonzalez each had two hits for Escogido. Chris Volstad got the loss, allowing three runs on five hits in six innings. Box score

The middle of the Toros lineup helped lead the team to its 6-4 win over Estrellas on Saturday. Jim Adduci went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, and Matt Hague went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Claudio Vargas allowed three runs on four hits in five innings for the Toros and got a no-decision. Box score

Caracas 6, Lara 1
Both Erasmo Ramirez and Yoanner Negrin pitched five-plus innings of shutout ball, but it was Negrin's squad who came out on top, thanks largely to big nights from Hernan Perez and Jesus Aguilar. Perez had two RBIs and a run scored while Aguilar, the Indians' No. 17 prospect, hit his ninth home run of the Winter League season, a three-run shot. Negrin struck out four in 5 1/3 shutout innings. Zulia 4, La Guaira 3
Catcher Sandy Leon went 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs to help lead Zulia to the close victory, as his batterymate Wilfredo Boscan gave up seven hits but just one run over 5 2/3 innings. Five other Zulia players also recorded hits, while Carlos Sanchez and Andy Wilkins combined for five hits for La Guaira. Box score

Margarita 4, Magallanes 1
Carlos Rivero's three-run home run helped pace Margarita to the victory, as Frank Del Valle pitched 5 1/3 innings of one-hit ball. Del Valle struck out seven while walking two, as Mitch Lively threw seven shutout innings in the loss. Mario Lisson, who hit a solo home run (his ninth of the Winter League season) accounted for all of Magallanes' offense on the day. Box score

Caribes had four innings of three-plus runs in the rout, as nine players drove in runs. Gorkys Hernandez went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Five players went yard, including Oscar Salazar, who hit a grand slam. Carlos Duran also drove in three. Salvador Robles dominated through six innings of work, allowing just three hits for his second win of the season. He also lowered his ERA to 2.25. Rolando Acosta had just one hit in the game, but he made it count. He belted a three-run shot in the third inning to give Navojoa the lead. Box score

In a back and forth battle, it was Obregon who came out on top. Scoring early and often, the team was led by Carlos Valencia, who went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and three RBIs. Reliever Marcos Zavala took the loss, allowing one run on three hits in two-thirds of an inning. Box score

Behind a solid pitching performance from Terry Doyle and some timely hitting from the entire lineup, Mexicali got the win. Doyle allowed just one run on three hits in seven innings of work for his second win of the season, as every hitter in Mexicali's starting lineup had a hit, including Luis Juarez, who went 2-for-3.
