The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that infielder Matt Carpenter has been placed on Major League Baseball's Paternity List and that the team has recalled infielder Greg Garcia from Memphis (AAA).
Cardinals acquire Jose Martinez from KC Royals
The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have acquired outfielder Jose Martinez from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for cash considerations. Martinez , who was playing for Omaha (AAA) this season, has been assigned to the Memphis (AAA) roster. To make room for Martinez on the team's 40-man Major League roster, the Cardinals transferred right-handed pitcher Mitch Harris (right elbow) from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

It was announced last night, May 13, that righthanded pitcher Seth Maness was being optioned to Memphis. After speaking with him further, it was determined that he needed to be examined by our medical staff. Subsequently he was seen by Dr. Farley today and it was determined that he is dealing with right elbow inflammation and will be placed on the 15 day disabled list.

Alive and Well STL, an initiative of the St. Louis Regional Health Commission, is joining Redbird Rookies, sponsored by Cardinals Care, as a community partner for the 2016 summer season. Redbird Rookies sponsors more than 20 leagues, serving nearly 4,500 youth baseball players in the St. Louis area and parts of rural Missouri and Illinois. This partnership will further advance the work of Cardinals Care in the communities it serves by providing support to the leagues, coaches and families.
