HOUSTON -- The Houston Astros today unveiled their schedule for the 2006 championship season, which begins at Minute Maid Park for a sixth consecutive year and at home for the 22nd time in the last 25 years. The Astros Opening Day is set for Monday, April 3, 2006, at 6:05 p.m. versus the Florida Marlins.

In addition, the Astros announced that under the "All Aboard Priority Plan," fans placing a deposit for 2006 season tickets before Sept. 24, 2005, will receive playoff options for all potential 2005 postseason games the Astros play at Minute Maid Park. Those fans joining the "All Aboard Priority Plan" will also be able to purchase their full-season seat locations before new 2006 season ticket customers. Certain restrictions apply. For more information, call the Astros Ticket Services Department at (800) ASTROS-2 (800-278-7672) or go online to

The Astros open the 2006 season with a seven-game homestand against two of the teams Houston is currently battling for the National League Wild Card -- the Florida Marlins (April 3-5) and Washington Nationals (April 7-10). The Astros' first road trip of the season follows with three games at the San Francisco Giants (April 11-13) and three games at the Arizona Diamondbacks (April 14-16).

The schedule features three home series against the St. Louis Cardinals, including a two-game series (May 3-4) and two, four-game weekend matchups (July 6-9 and Sept. 21-24). The late-September showdown with the Redbirds is the Astros' last regular-season home games of the year before ultimately closing out the season with three away games at the Atlanta Braves, marking the first time since 2002 Houston will finish the regular season on the road.

Other key series at Minute Maid Park include three matchups with the Chicago Cubs (June 5-7, July 3-5, and Aug. 14-16); three-game sets with the Los Angeles Dodgers (April 24-26) and San Francisco Giants (May 15-17); and weekend series with the Atlanta Braves (June 8-11) and New York Mets (Sept. 1-3).

Houston's Interleague slate features home contests versus the Texas Rangers (May 19-21) and two teams from the American League Central Division -- the Kansas City Royals (June 16-18) and Minnesota Twins (June 20-22). The Astros travel in Interleague Play on a nine-game, 10-day road trip to the Chicago White Sox (June 23-25), Detroit Tigers (June 26-28), and Texas Rangers (June 30-July 2). The home-and-home series with the Rangers will mark the Sixth Annual Lone Star Series as Texas' two Major League baseball teams battle for the Silver Boot trophy.

Astros regular-season weekday games at Minute Maid Park are scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m., with the exception of Opening Day (April 3 at 6:05 p.m.), Fourth of July (July 4 at 1:05 p.m. vs. Chicago Cubs), and three Business Fan's Specials starting at 1:05 p.m. (April 10 vs. Washington Nationals, June 7 vs. Chicago Cubs, and Aug. 16 vs. Chicago Cubs). Non-nationally televised Saturday home games are scheduled to begin at 6:05 p.m., while Sunday home games are slated to start at 1:05 p.m.

Schedule and times are subject to change by Major League Baseball.
