CJ Internet, MLBAM Sign Online Gaming License Agreement in Korea
The biggest and brightest stars of Major League Baseball are coming to CJ Internet's "MaguMagu" online baseball game.
CJ Internet (CEO Jung Young Jong) and MLB Advanced Media LP (MLBAM), the interactive media and Internet company of Major League Baseball, announced today that they have signed an online interactive gaming service agreement for the rights to customize CJ Internet's use of MLB license within the Korean territory for its online baseball game, MaguMagu.
Through this contract, the MaguMagu game will be tailored to include official Major League Baseball club and league marks and logos, official Major League Baseball club uniform colors and Major League Baseball player rights.
In addition, the new MaguMagu baseball game will also present several Major League Baseball players from Korea, such as Chan Ho Park, Byung-Hyun Kim, Hee-Seop Choi and Jae Weong Seo, so users can engage with an original and dynamic online baseball game.
To commemorate the new MLB-focused MaguMagu game, CJ Internet will be actively running promotions on the MaguMagu game site from February 27 to March 26, 2008.
Users can register to win several prizes via a sweepstakes from the MaguMagu site, including LCD TVs, PCs, DSLR cameras and official MLB caps and jerseys. CJ Internet also plans to offer digital versions of the MLB player cards from the MaguMagu game site.
Kwon Young Sik, the executive of CJ Internet, said, "Now, we have the opportunity to play the ultimate match-ups between Chan Ho Park and Derek Jeter or Lee Seung-Yeop and Randy Johnson in MaguMagu and we will do the best to make it the premier online baseball game for Korea baseball fans."
"We are excited to partner with CJ Internet on the first interactive Internet-based Major League Baseball simulation game for the Korean market," said Alex Pigeon, Vice President of International, MLBAM. "CJ Internet's current MaguMagu online baseball game has a tremendous following in Korea, and we are looking forward to offering Korea's baseball fans a new interactive experience with a MLB-focused version of MaguMagu in their native Korean Language.
