Geary was unable to attend the memorial service held at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday, but he plans to make an effort to attend a private ceremony that could be held on a day in May when many teams around baseball are scheduled to be off.
"It'll be a tribute with just players," Geary said. "I might try to go to that, but I don't know yet if I'll be able to."
The memorial service at the Phillies' ballpark on Saturday was attended by the entire Phillies team, plus members of Kalas' family, a slew of past players, front-office staffers and thousands of fans.
Geary, who grew close to Kalas during his years in the Philadelphia organization, watched snippets of the service and wished he had been there. He had considered flying up and back the same day, but logistically, it was not possible.
"It's unfortunate," the reliever said. "And I'm sure there are a lot of guys that regret not being able to be there to support Harry. I would be one of those guys who definitely would have loved to have been there for him."
