Hooks president Ken Schrom received the award from Baseball America president and publisher Lee Folger at Monday's annual baseball Winter Meetings awards luncheon.
"On behalf of our ownership group, front office, gameday staff and Hooks fans throughout the coastal bend, I humbly and gratefully accept this honor," Schrom said in a statement. "We work in a great industry and are blessed to be in a position to impact people's lives in many positive ways.
"The Hooks and our sister club in Round Rock, the Express, were the vision of [founder and CEO] Reid Ryan and his family. Ryan-Sanders Baseball has always provided the resources we need to engage the community and the people of Corpus Christi are partners in any success we enjoy."
The Freitas Award is named for long-time Minor League ambassador Bob Freitas and conferred on franchises "on a path of longterm excellence and true parts of their communities." Round Rock captured the award in 2004. Other Texas League winners are El Paso (1989), Arkansas (1990), Tulsa (1992, 2005), San Antonio (1994), Midland (1995) and Frisco (2007).
