Commissioner Bud Selig, along with Astros owner Jim Crane and manager Bo Porter, will be among the special guests at the second MLB Diversity Business Summit, to be held on June 18-19 in Houston.
Also confirmed as special guests for the diversity employment and business opportunity career and trade fair are Houston mayor Annise Parker and U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee.
Selig will deliver the keynote speech at this year's event, which also includes a "Business of the Game" ownership panel, featuring Crane and a number of other Major League owners and upper-level executives. Joining Crane on the panel will be Brewers owner Mark Attanasio, Braves chairman emeritus Bill Bartholomay, D-backs president and CEO Derrick Hall, Rays owner Stuart Sternberg and Minor League president and CEO Pat O'Conner.
The summit, co-hosted by Major League Baseball and the Astros, is an unprecedented diversity event designed to provide attendees with unique access to human resource and procurement executives from each of the 30 Major League teams, as well as MLB Network, MLB Advanced Media, Minor League clubs and MLB's central office.
Aside from Selig's keynote speech, this year's event will feature league-wide networking, exhibit floor access, workshops and executive table discussions.
