Stassi's CAT scan, X-ray results rule out fracture

A CAT scan and X-rays taken Wednesday night showed no facial fractures for Astros catcher Max Stassi, who was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning of Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Rangers. The ball deflected off his shoulder and hit him in the mouth.
Stassi stayed overnight at the Medical Center of Arlington and was scheduled to be released Thursday.
The 22-year-old was appearing in his second Major League game when Rangers reliever Tanner Scheppers hit him with a first-pitch 96-mph fastball with the bases loaded.
He left the game immediately.
"I was inside when I saw it; it wasn't pretty," Houston starting pitcher Erik Bedard said Wednesday. "I saw him when he came back here, and he was a little dazed. I feel for him. You never want to get hit in the face. Hopefully he comes back as soon as he can."
