HOUSTON -- All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve led off Sunday's game for the Astros with his fourth home run of the season, one that was confirmed after a replay review.
Altuve smacked the second pitch from Marlins starter Jacob Turner over the left-field wall, and umpire Todd Tichenor initiated a crew-chief review after he spoke with Marlins manager Mike Redmond.
The replay showed the ball hitting the railing above the yellow line, and the call was confirmed.
Altuve entered Sunday leading the Major Leagues in hits (145), batting average (.340) and multi-hit games. He's hit safely in 15 of his last 16 games.
Both managers still retained ability to challenge calls. No manager may challenge more than two plays in a game. Once the manager has exhausted his ability to challenge plays during the game and after the beginning of the seventh inning, the crew chief may choose to invoke replay on any reviewable call.
