    3B Dick Allen hits measured 529-foot home run completely over the Coca-Cola billboard atop Connie Mack Stadium's left-center field roof off RHP Larry Jackson. First-inning blast sends Phillies to a 4-2 win over Chicago.

  • May 29, 1978

    CF Garry Maddox records four of the Phillies' seven stolen bases in a 4-3, 14-inning win against Pittsburgh.

  • May 29, 1985

    Mike Schmidt switches to first base as rookie Rick Schu is brought up from Portland to play third base. Phillies lose, 6-1, at Los Angeles.

    Greg Gross collects his 100th career pinch-hit in a 5-4 win over San Francisco.

  • May 29, 2010

    RHP Roy Halladay tosses perfect game, 1-0, over the Marlins in Miami. He throws 115 pitches (72 for strikes) and fans 11.

  • May 30, 1935, 1st game

    LF Babe Ruth goes hitless (one at-bat) in his final game as the Boston Braves beat the Phillies, 11-6, in the first game of a Baker Bowl doubleheader. Attendance: 18,000.

    LHP Steve Carlton wins his 191st game with Phillies, 6-2, over Atlanta. Victory moves Lefty into second place on the Phillies' all-time list ahead of Grover Alexander. Robin Roberts leads with 234.

  • May 30, 1989

    Veterans Stadium is empty except for a handful of media who were there for 3B Mike Schmidt's retirement press conference. He had announced his retirement the day before in San Diego and returned home to meet the Philadelphia media. His last game was May 28 at San Francisco.

    Ryan Howard hits his eighth career grand slam to set a new club record. Phillies beat Washington, 9-6.

  • May 31, 1994

    Phillies rally for 8-7 win in Wrigley Field, ending May with a 15-13 record despite losing three starting pitchers (Curt Schilling, Tommy Greene, Ben Rivera) and three regulars (John Kruk, Kevin Stocker and Dave Hollins) to the disabled list during the month.

    LHP Jamie Moyer wins his 250th game, 4-2, over Washington.

  • May 31, 2014

    1B Ryan Howard collects his 1,000th RBI with a three-run homer in 7th inning, a 5-4, 14-inning loss to the Mets. All three weekend games go extra innings, 14-14-11.

  • June 1, 1969

    1B Dick Allen slams five home runs in five consecutive games to set a club record. The fifth homer comes in a 12-4 loss to Los Angeles at Connie Mack Stadium. The five homers were part of a streak in which he hit nine in 14 games.

  • June 1, 1939

    Phillies play first night game at home and lose, 5-2, to Pittsburgh at Shibe Park before 8,000. Time of game: 1:55.

  • June 2, 1949

    Phillies hit five home runs in the eighth inning of a 12-3 win over Cincinnati at Shibe Park. C Andy Seminick hits two (three for the game), while LF Del Ennis, 3B Willie Jones and RHP Schoolboy Rowe hit one each.

  • June 2, 1998

    Choosing first for the first time in club history, the Phillies select 3B Pat Burrell in the amateur free agent draft. The University of Miami slugger was later signed to a five-year, $8 million contract, highest amount ever given to an amateur player.

  • June 2, 2002

    In an 18-3 win over the Marlins, the Phils score 10 runs in the first inning (1st time since 1975), led by Pat Burrell and Marlon Anderson who had two hits apiece. Robert Person launches a grand slam and three-run home run to become just the sixth Phillies pitcher to hit two home runs in a game. His seven RBI was the most by a major league pitcher since 1966.

  • June 3, 1972

    Paul Owens, a member of the Phillies organization since 1956 and the club's farm director since 1965, is promoted to General Manager, replacing John Quinn. Owens becomes the architect of the Phillies greatest era to that point: one world championship, two NL pennant-winners and five division titles.

  • June 3, 1978

    Reserve IF Dave Johnson blasts a game-winning, pinch-hit grand slam in the ninth inning to lift the Phillies to a 5-1 win over Los Angeles at the Vet. It is Johnson's second pinch-hit grand slam of the season, a major league first.

  • June 3, 2007

    CF Shane Victorino hits a walk-off home run on Shane Victorino Hula Figurine Day, 9-8 over the Giants at Citizens Bank Park.

  • June 4, 2013

    John Mayberry Jr. becomes the first player in MLB history to hit two extra-inning homers, a game-tying solo homer in the 10th and a walk-off grand slam in the 11th. Phillies beat Marlins, 7-3.
