The 5th Annual Pirates Charities Spring Training Golf Classic took place on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Bradenton Country Club in Bradenton, Florida.

Pirates fans joined us for a round of golf with a Pirates celebrity while supporting the efforts of Pirates Charities in the Bradenton area.

In 2012, the proceeds from the Spring Training Golf Classic were again used to support improvements to youth recreational facilities in the Bradenton region.


6th annual Pirates Charities Golf Classic (2011)

On Thursday, August 18th, 2011, Pirates Charities held the 6th annual Pirates Charities Golf Classic, presented by West Penn Allegheny Health System, at the renowned Fox Chapel Golf Club. The event was co-chaired by Pirates and Pirates Charities President Frank Coonelly and Christopher T. Olivia, M.D., with Harold F. Balk, Esq. as Committee Chair.

There, over 100 participants had the unique opportunity to spend the day with current and former Pirates players, broadcasters and front office executives while supporting the many and varied efforts of Pirates Charities. Current players such as Joel Hanrahan, Paul Maholm, James McDonald and Neil Walker joined alumni including Steve Blass, Bob Friend, Grant Jackson and Kent Tekulve, to name a few.

Best of all, the event raised $161,450 for Pirates Charities.

Second baseman Neil Walker was one of the current Pirates who traded a baseball bat for a golf club and spent the day golfing with our event sponsors.

Following a round of golf, pitcher Joel Hanrahan and Hall-of-Famer Bill Mazeroski enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres with event attendees.
