Veteran coach Dave Trembley will take over as Astros bench coach in 2014, in what will be his second season with the club. In 2013, he served as third base coach after being hired on Oct. 19, 2012. 

Trembley, 62, is entering his 30th season in professional baseball, which includes 20 seasons as a minor league manager. Prior to joining the Astros, he was the minor league coordinator for the Atlanta Braves from 2011-12. From 2007-10, Trembley served as the manager of the Baltimore Orioles. 

During his career as a minor league manager, Trembley won two league titles and earned his respective league's Manager of the Year honor three times (1987, 1995, 1999). He was named the Minor League Manager of the Year in 1987 by Baseball America in what was his first season as a manager in pro baseball. In December 2001, Baseball America selected him as one of minor league baseball's top five managers of the previous 20 years.

His illustrious minor league managing career has included stints with the Pirates, Padres, Cubs and Orioles organizations. He also has experience working in the front office, having served as the director of day-to-day operations for the Pirates minor league complex and spring training facility for one season (1990).

Trembley managed current Astros manager Bo Porter at three different levels in the Cubs organization (1995-98), and also served as a coach in the inaugural Futures Game in 1999. In 2003, he received Baltimore's Cal Ripken Sr. Player Development Award. He was inducted into the Lancaster JetHawks Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008, the Antelope Valley College Sports Hall of Fame in 2009, and the Florida State League Hall of Fame in 2012. 

Trembley has a bachelor's degree in physical education and a master's degree in education, both from the State University of New York at Brockport. He also did graduate work in sports psychology at Penn State University. 

Trembley resides in Daytona Beach Shores, FL, with his wife Patti and son Kevin.
